Food Technology

Due to the curriculum changes in Food, St Augustine Academy is introducing a new qualification hosted by NCFE called a VCERT. This is GCSE equivalent and offers exciting opportunities for students studying Food Technology as well as helping students to gain essential life skills. The benefits of the course are as follows:

  • aids your child’s individual engagement and achievement at school
  • provides your child with the option to specialise within broader sectors of the industry enabling access to career paths such as chef, restaurant manager, publican and many more opportunities
  • create hands-on practical learning opportunities
  • develops students’ skills and understanding of professional practice in a range of sectors
  • gives them a chance to gain recognition for their practical skills
  • builds their confidence
  • opens up broad progression opportunities for the future

The only requirements for taking Food and Cookery are enthusiasm and  the provision of ingredients(by parents/carers) on a weekly basis, as your child will be cooking every week.
