Health and Social Care

This course is for students from Year 9 onwards. Health and Social Care offers students a chance to investigate a variety of topics:

  • How we communicate, verbal or non-verbal language. How might language be affected and by what; what barriers are there to communication and how might these be overcome.
  • Health and safety, how do we keep ourselves safe and others who may be vulnerable.
  • Human Development, the aging process how does it affect us; PIES – Physical, Intellectual, Emotional or Social – PIES is what we use to recall Information when looking at development

Progression for this course typically leads onto a Level 3 A Level or Vocational Pathway allowing students a follow on route of either employment or higher education and progressing onto a profession from social worker through to nursing.
