Wheelchair rugby

As an inclusive school, the Academy has students with a range of different abilities. Currently, two boys use wheelchairs and an event which was very popular last year, was repeated this year - wheelchair rugby. Reece and Finn both enjoyed the opportunity to play a game with their friends where everyone was in a wheelchair.

Other students’ comments included:
“They showed us how to stay safe playing in the wheelchairs and we learnt many new skills.’
‘It was great! There were a few hard parts such as controlling the direction we moved. The best part was being the goalkeeper. I’d love to do it again.’
‘I absolutely loved it! It made me realise how hard it can be for disabled people on a day-to-day basis.’

Many thanks are due to the Gravesend Dynamite Wheelchair Rugby League for enabling our students to enjoy this fantastic opportunity.
