“Please sir, we want some more!”

The annual tradition of producing a Christmas Musical at St Augustine Academy is one which seems to attract bigger audiences every year and this year was no exception as Oliver! provided audiences with a stunning set, lighting and a live band. The 80+ student cast sang, danced and acted to 3 sold-out audiences, including one primary school performance and two public performances with audience members saying that it was “so professional” and a returning audience member commenting “the shows here just keep getting better! That’s my favourite one I’ve seen in years.”.

Since September, students have taken part through our Enrichment programme and been rehearsing twice a week in preparation.  It takes a dedicated ensemble to be able to put this show on, but a special mention goes to Zac Wells who made his stage debut as Oliver and James Blake, making his final appearance on stage at the Academy as Fagin. All of the performers were supported by our live band consisting of Mr Morrison and three students from year 10 who amazed everyone with their superb bass and keyboard playing skills.  We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Will Hesse for providing us with his time and skills in lighting our show for us.

The Performing Arts department would like to thank everyone who came to the production and supported our young people. We wish you all a very merry Christmas, God Bless.
