Billy Elliot theatre trip

On Thursday 26th, a group of Year 9 students travelled to the Victoria Palace Theatre in central London to view a performance of the widely acclaimed Billy Elliot musical. The trip was a great success, with students thoroughly enjoying the spectacle and giving a fantastic account of themselves and the Academy. The performance assisted their study of the film and stage story, and provided students with the opportunity to engage in learning in a holistic and captivating way. Some students were even reduced to tears by the emotion of the performance, as many empathised with the tale of Billy as he confronts the reality of the 1984-85 miners’ strikes, the loss of his mother, and the resistance to his becoming a ballet dancer and chasing his dreams. Much fun was had by all!
