Working at No.10 Downing Street!

Unable to secure a place for her dream work experience placement last year when she was in year 10, Academy student Abbi Caine was delighted to be given the chance to complete it this year. Not only was the placement a chance to work at No.10 Downing Street, but it coincided with perhaps the most momentous week in British politics for many decades.

She started the week working for David Cameron and finished it working for Britain’s second female Prime Minister, Theresa May!  Abbi's week included meeting Mr Cameron, witnessing his farewell speech at PMQs from the viewing gallery alongside his staff, meeting Theresa May and attending many interesting meetings.  Abbi said "the week in Parliament has been a  real eye opener. It has definitely allowed me to understand more about British Politics and has put me in good stead to begin my Politics A Level in September".

Chatham & Aylesford MP, Tracey Crouch, found time to meet with Abbi and discuss potential career paths and future work experience. Abbi's enjoyable work experience confirms that across the country there is a growing interest and engagement in Politics amongst the younger generation. We wish Abbi great success in her further education and career and perhaps in the not too distant future, Abbi will be adding ‘MP’ after her name!
