Carol Service

This year, our annual Carol Service was a fun filled event for year 7 & 8 students. It was held in the Academy’s main hall this year whilst our local Parish Church appoints a full time vicar so it was a change of setting. The event was also open to parents and carers, many of whom came along to listen and join in with students and staff. It was not just the students and parents listening & singing the carols, but also the signing choir conducted by Mr Hewett who led the whole audience in ‘Mistletoe & Wine.’ Individual readings were interspersed with the carols and were read by year 7 & 8 students.

The Service was led by Reverend Lavender of St Andrew’s, Barming and St Nicholas at Allington and Mr Feldwick.  A second visitor taking part was representing Maidstone Churches Winter Shelter and she gave the students an entertaining and interactive picture of the work they do without detracting from the seriousness of the plight of the homeless of Maidstone.
As a measure of support for this great local charity, the Academy students will be raising funds for the Shelter.
A huge ‘thank you’ goes to Mrs Downs, Head of RE, for organising the whole event.
