Academy students at the Maidstone Arts Festival

By invitation from  the Maidstone Area Arts Partnership, Year 8 students from St Augustine Academy have had an amazing opportunity to contribute to the first Maidstone International Arts Festival. The Festival is designed to showcase local talent and workshops, performance days and exhibitions will feature both local and international artists and performers well to provide inspiration and challenge.

Based around the theme of Mars, which is the next stage of space exploration, Mr Freed’s students came up with a series of marvellous pastel artworks which show their interpretation of the ‘red planet.’ The use of pastels as the medium allowed the students to give the artworks a very atmospheric, hazy feel which gives the feeling of floating in space around the planet.
The artworks are displayed in a vacant shop near Wilko and will be on display until 16th July.
