Prom 2017

One of the major highlights of the Academy year, the year 11 Prom, is also one of the saddest as we all say a last ‘goodbye and good luck’ to the year group of students who will now be going a little further out into the ‘real’ world for the next step on their lifepath.

The regular venue for the event is the Maidstone Hilton who provide a lovely atmospheric setting for the evening complete with a special meal and the in house disco. As usual, there were a variety of methods of transport that were used to ferry the students to the hotel followed by thirty minutes of frantic group photo opportunities around the venue’s entrance before the guests were invited in for the dinner.

Staff and students mingled throughout the evening sharing memories of Academy life over the last 5 years but probably the major highlight was for the year 11s to show off their amazing dresses and suits. All the female students seemed to have found the most incredibly beautiful and colourful evening dresses and the boys were almost unrecognizable in their sharp suits, waistcoats, polished shoes and even some with bow ties!

During the dinner, students voted for some special awards including Prom King (Brad Hilton) and Queen (Jasmine Hewitson), best dress (Elycia Vallins) and best hair (Millie Sparrow). These prizes were given out by the organizer of the event, Mr Mason and delivered with his usual touch of wit which was much appreciated by all present.

Finally, tearful goodbyes were exchanged and the now ex-year 11s were off to begin a new chapter in life. We hope that they will keep us informed of the future exciting events in their lives.
