Year 7 Students Fun Weekend

Over seventy students from Year 7 enjoyed a weekend of activities at the Kingswood Grosvenor Hall site near Ashford, all aimed at building students’ self-confidence, teamwork and communication skills. Among the range of activities on offer, students had the opportunity to take part in climbing, aerial runway, problem-solving and Nightline – where students are blindfolded and have to complete an obstacle course just by listening to each others’ instructions!

The most popular activity by far was the 3G swing, where pairs of students are winched up to a great height and let go in a giant swing. Other favourites included the aerial runway zip wire, the scrapheap challenge and the high equilibrium balance beam.
All students had a fantastic time and were willing to go out of their comfort zones as well as being fantastic ambassadors for the Academy. Huge thanks go to Mr Fishman for the mammoth amount of work involved in organizing the trip and he was ably assisted by Miss Dean, Mrs Downs, Mrs Foulsham, Mrs Francis, Mr Morrish and Mr Morrison.
