Academy holds Macmillan Coffee Morning

Macmillan Cancer Support, the national charity, holds a ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ on an annual basis in September at numerous venues around Britain to raise funds for this well known and important charity.

At the Academy, we regularly take part in the event and host our own Coffee Morning. This year, two of our senior students, Nisa Limbu and Lily Hartfield organised our event at the Academy. To enable the maximum amount of money to go to the charity, the two girls went out and about in Maidstone and managed to get donations of cakes from Sainsbury’s, Tesco and a Nisa Local. More yummy items were kindly provided by 3 of the teaching staff at the Academy and several students.

The tables were positively groaning with cakes and biscuits of every description and on the day, Miss Lay and the Senior Student leadership team ran the event with the other students descending on the goodies as if they hadn’t eaten for a week!

In the end, the final total that was raised was a magnificent £120 for the charity. A huge ‘well done’ goes to the student organisers, the student and staff cake makers, the very generous local shops and not forgetting all the wonderful people who bought and consumed all the items. Thank you all!
