Students ‘Positive about dyslexia’

Dyslexia is a much talked about but often little understood learning difficulty that affects a person’s accurate word reading and spelling. Three year 10 students; Erin Bourne, Becky Wiggins and Katherine Skinner took advantage of the recent Dyslexia Awareness week to do just that by running a quiz for Academy students.

Photos of celebrities were on display around the building and students were asked to name them and spot the link between all of them, namely that they all had dyslexia.

Erin produced slides for our Academy TVs and the posters and then the 3 students had a slot in each Chapter assembly to speak about dyslexia and the competition.

The competition was won by Evan Travis in year 7 and he won the prize of a £10 Amazon voucher.
A great round of applause goes to the three year 10 girls for their enterprising and generous spirit – well done!
