Tree planting for the future
Working with Maidstone Community Group, students from St Augustine Academy helped plant 400 trees to support the Group’s ambition of creating a one mile dog walking route around the school fields. Students from year 9 were incredibly excited to provide this support for dog walkers and pedestrians in the community using trees kindly donated from the Woodland Trust.
They spent a morning planting the saplings along the edge of our playing field by digging holes, carefully planting the tiny saplings and then supporting them with canes and protective sleeves. A great morning was had by all students involved and Mr Capeling was very proud of their achievements.
It was a brilliant example of how our students recognise the important role they play in part of the wider community that we are so fortunate to be a part of.
