Books - and more books!

At the Academy, we are lucky to have a resource that not all schools have nowadays – a fantastic library. Not just content with that, our Librarian also works incredibly hard to take every opportunity to increase our stock of books. Her mission is to get every student reading and developing a love for books. As part of that, she regularly enters many competitions to win books – and succeeds in winning quite often!

Mrs Probets has just won a limited edition, pre-publication copy of ‘Me, my dad and the end of the rainbow’ by Benjamin Dean which has been described by the Bookseller magazine as ‘one of the most joyful books you’ll read this year.’

Also on their way to our library from the Reading Zone, is a box of 50 books won in a Twitter competition. Targeted at students in years 7 - 9, the free pack includes fifteen titles, split across three categories – Future Classics, Reluctant Readers and Non-Fiction with five titles in each category. You can follow the Academy on our Twitter account @SAA_Library

And finally, as member of a secondary schools librarians group on Facebook, the Academy will be the recipients of a box of books from Chigwell School, an Independent school which passes on surplus books to other schools when they restock their library.

Mrs Probets also regularly interacts with authors about their books and reading in general with their responses and information passed on to our students via the  library displays around the school.
