World Book Day 2022

Posted on: 7th Mar 2022

As usual, it was a fun time last week with lots of activities in the Library, all promoting the joy of reading. Here are our highlights:

A successful Murder Mystery event with books was organised by Miss Paterson with Dylan Moore playing the super sleuth who was super speedy in solving the clues.

Guessing the staff pets, all whom were reading, was a lot of fun and the animals all looked very cute. There was quite a selection with dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, a lizard, a parrot and Shaun the Sheep. And a bonus guess of a pet unicorn!

Bex Hogan the author, did a lovely video message just for our Academy students.

There were some fun parodies in Mentor time too, including M C Grammar. All can be found on YouTube. Mentor Groups also had the chance to join in the A-Z Book quiz as a team. There will be a prize for the winners.

The Scavenger Hunt around the buildings searching for book clues, was very popular and everyone who completed it correctly received a cake.

A Mad Hatter Tea Party was held on Friday as a reward for students who were invited by a Golden Ticket.

As always, the Cake Sale was very popular so it carried over for 2 days.  Thank you to everyone who donated cakes.

Then there was the humungous Bruce Bogtrotter Chocolate Cake, which for 20p, you could guess the weight and be in for a chance of winning an Amazon voucher.

There were even more activities to join in -  Making a journal, Guess the book quote, Folded story characters and the emoji quiz.

And finally, thank you to the staff who dressed up as a book character on Friday.

From Dobby and Luna Lovegood (Librarians).
