The highlight of last week in Great Britain…

In common with most schools around the country, the Academy celebrated the Platinum Jubilee with great enthusiasm. However, as the Jubilee week fell in our holiday week, we did our celebrating just before the holiday.

This magnificent ‘once in a lifetime’ event involved the whole school and two amazing displays were on view.

No-one could miss our royal display as you entered the Academy on Friday. As can be seen in the photos below, bunting, the flag and several smaller items were on display.

In the West Block, the Library was honoured and delighted to welcome the Queen (in cardboard) and many students decided that they couldn’t miss a photo opportunity with Her Majesty – Mr Feldwick included!

Lessons took place as usual but students learnt more about British values, the Queen’s reign, our laws and some even wrote postcards to the monarch thanking her for what she has done for our country over the last 70 years.

However, it wasn’t only the students celebrating. Both our Chaplain and Mrs Carlo decided to be Queen for a day with their crowns and the canteen staff donned Union Jack hats!

A big thank-you goes to Mrs Hayes for all her work to make the Jubilee a day to remember.
