Black History Month

Posted on: 14th Nov 2022

Black History Month was created to focus attention on the contributions of African Americans to the United States of America. It honours all black people from all periods of U.S. history, from the enslaved people first brought over from Africa in the early 17th century to African Americans living in the United States today.

It is now celebrated around the world and the Academy focuses on it through our Library where collections of books by black authors are displayed and available to borrow. Our Librarian, Mrs Probets, also produces a 3 page newsletter to give students a flavour of what books are available to borrow. The front page is shown below.

Don't forget to look at the main Library page on the website! There's lots of interesting things to see and you'll be able to catch up on the Library Newsletter - it changes every month.
