U13s Girls National Cup

Posted on: 14th Mar 2023

On Tuesday it was the Year 7 & 8 girls turn to take on the National Cup as the St Leonards Academy from South East Sussex were the visitors. St Augustine started the faster of the two sides as Tally Manser & Emily Ticehurst forced the St Leonards stopper into some early action. Midway through the half, the tenacious Tally Manser took the ball from the St Leonard’s captain and threaded through a pass for Tanesha to tuck away her second goal of the week. It was then Tally herself that would score the second, the impressive Faye Miller with the assist this time as Tally took it round the keeper before putting the ball in the net for 2-0. St Leonards came out fighting in the second half but the defence of Olivia Smith, Emily Ticehurst, Tulisa Cooke & Iyla Saul stood strong. Savannah did well to tip a testing volley over the bar as St Leonards began to take control of the game. An unfortunate handball gave Tanesha the opportunity to score again, this time from the penalty spot and she did so by blasting the ball into the top corner for 3-0. St Augustine stayed resolute to protect their 3-0 lead and maintain a clean sheet for keepers Chloe Harvey (first half) and Savannah Goad Moore (second half). The youngsters now await the third round draw to see who they face in the next round. Great work!
