Magnificent fundraising achievement by year 10 student, Xander Meredith
Xander's mum let us know of his achievement in this moving report:
"On Father’s Day, 2018 Xander’s grandad fell ill unexpectedly from what was later diagnosed as a brain tumour. He passed away in the August. All our hearts were broken. He was never ill. My mum, 2 sisters and our families do what we can to raise awareness of and to support this important charity. The Brain Tumour Research charity raise money for research into brain tumours, which usually affect people much younger than Xander’s grandad.
We saw that we could do a virtual Walk of Hope and thought would be a good way to support them and to share Dad's memory. Xander and I chose to walk around Cobtree Park in Maidstone, the focus not being speed or distance, but spending time together looking at nature. Xander called my dad 'Crazy Grandad' as they always had lots of fun and did crazy things! So far we have raised just over our £500 target. Xander’s grandad would certainly have enjoyed this walk and would no doubt be proud of his grandson."
