NCS visit

Posted on: 17th Jan 2022

St Augustine Academy has a long association with the National Citizen Service (NCS) which is a voluntary personal and social development programme for 16–17 year olds in England, funded largely by money from the UK Government.

A few years ago, the Academy was awarded the NCS Champion School Award in recognition for actively encouraging students to take part in the programme and for the greatest percentage of students graduating from the programme out of all the schools in Maidstone.

Last week, NCS came in to meet with Year 11 to launch their Summer Programme, which provides students with experiences and engagements that support them with their future. NCS provides student with employability opportunities and chances to build their skills ready for future employment.

After an introduction by the 2 NCS presenters, our students watched a short video and were then encouraged to complete a short form to express their interest in taking part this summer. So far, 46 students have returned forms which is very encouraging. Watch this space for updates!
