On 18th March we held our latest ‘Family Forum’ online event – and the turnout was the best yet! Questions covered included: “How can I find out about my child’s in-class assessments?”, “Should I be worried about the meningitis outbreak in Kent?” and “Can you help me encourage my child to try an afterschool club?”
The agenda for Family Forum is shaped by ongoing dialogue with families, and the big topic that many of you wanted to explore was the introduction of Yondr phone pouches in the final half term of this year. It was great to be able to share information about Yondr, put to rest any of the concerns surrounding locking and unlocking, and explain the context of our modified approach against changing government guidance and the latest research into youth mental well-being.
Our final item was this year’s “International Cultural Week” in July, with a short piece prepared by the Student Voice team – who wanted to ask families if they could help share some knowledge of countries and cultures they have connections with. This is what truly makes St Augustine Academy a community – the joining together of students, staff and of course you – the families.
