Years 7 and 8 Rewards trips to Prison Island

Posted on: 3rd Jul 2022

On Monday 4 July 2022, the Year 7 team took a group of 30 students to Prison Island. The students were selected for representing the Academy excellently and for meeting all expectations to a high standard. Mr Blackford, Miss Smith and Mr Muir are extremely proud of how they presented and conducted themselves through the year, and they have made a really good start to their time here at St Augustine Academy. As part of the reward trip the students competed in a range of physical and mental challenged that mirrored games seen in the Crystal Maze and The Cube. All students were divided into teams, and had to collect as many points as they could. The winners were the ‘The Cool Kids’ with 365 points, followed by the teachers team with 342. Well done and thank you to everyone that took part. Thank you to Miss Smith, Mrs Parsons and Mr Muir for organising and taking the students down to Prison Island.

This was the second visit to the Prison Island as earlier in term 6, students from Year 8 were taken on a similar rewards trip to the same venue. Prison Island is a very popular 'escape room' experience based in Maidstone. This was done as a “well done” to students who have worked hard, achieved high Attitude to Learning scores, had fantastic attendance and been awarded a lot of 'Stars of the Lesson.'  In total, 25 students took part in a series of challenges in different rooms, each puzzle with its own difficulty and time limit. Each team worked really well and attempted a wide range of tasks. Well done in particular to team Jimm who scored the most points of all the teams – an impressive 371 points in total.
