BackYear 8 visit the World War One trenches!
Posted on: 7th Jul 2022The Year 8 students were fortunate enough to visit the Centre for Experimental Military Archaeology at the Showground in Maidstone. Whilst there, they explored replica World War One trenches together with mud, gas rattles and bomb craters.
They were also able to learn about what was happending on the Home Front, how medicine evolved over the four years and what equipment each solider was expected to carry.
This trip links in with the World War One unit the year 8 students have been studying this year, and the GCSE course, 'Medicine Through Time', where they focus on medical advances throughout the war.
Overall it was a lovely, if muddy, day and a fun time was had by all. We are very grateful to the staff at CEMA for their expertise and insight.
