Students undertake a three-year course in the language studied in Year 7, 8 and 9. They cover the following three themes:
1. Identity and Culture
2. Local, national, international and global areas of interest
3. Current and future study and employment
Themes cover a range of topics studied in Years 7, 8 and 9, developing them and building on vocabulary and grammar learned at Key Stage 3.

Term 1: Module 1 – “Desconéctate”
Holiday preferences, plans, accommodation, describing a past holiday, dream and disastrous holidays
Term 2: Module 2 – “Mi vida en el insti”
School subjects and opinions, facilities, rules, uniform, successes, a past or future visit, healthy living
Term 3: Module 3 – “Mi gente”
Family and relationships, descriptions, technology, making arrangements, reading and music, relationships and friendships
Term 4: Module 4 – “Intereses e influencias”
Free time, sports and leisure, TV, films, reading, music, planning to go out, musical and sporting events
Term5: Module 5 – “Ciudades
Town, house and home, describing your region, shopping, future plans
Term 6: Module 6 – “De costumbre”
Food and healthy diet, eating in a restaurant, daily routine, celebrations and festivals

Term 1: Module 7 – “A currar”
Jobs, earning money, future plans, work experience, speaking languages, making job applications
Term 2: Module 8 – “Hacia un mundo mejor”
Global issues, charity and voluntary work, pressures and problems, lifestyle choices
Terms 3, 4 and 5: Revision of all topics and key exam skills. This will involve a range of past paper materials, revision and skills booklets.
